By The Numbers


16,700,000 - Pounds of food distributed by the East Texas Food Bank in 2012.

14,000,000 - Meals provided to hungry East Texans in 2012.

10th - Texas ranks tenth in child food insecurity, according to the Feeding America.

26 - Number of  counties in East Texas, over 20,000 square miles and 200 nonprofits, we partner with.

428,000 - East Texans who are "at-risk of hunger".   

1 in 4 - East Texas children is at-risk of hunger.
1 in 5 - East Texas adults is at-risk of hunger.
1 in 7 - East Texas seniors is at-risk of hunger.

183,000 - Amount of clients served by the East Texas Food Bank and our over 200 partner agencies, according to the 2010 Hunger Study.

    44% are under 18 years old
      6% are elderly
    50% are adults
    49% of the households served had at least one employed adult

In the 2010 Hunger Study, East Texans shared about the difficult choices they are having to make:
    57% made a choice between food and utilities
    40% made a choice between food and housing
    39% made a choice between food and health care
