Partner Agencies

Partner agencies are an integral part of our work, serving as the link between food and people. More than 200 nonprofit human service agencies in 26 counties in East Texas receive much of their food from the East Texas Food Bank's warehouse located in Tyler. Our partner agencies work in partnership with the East Texas Food Bank to provide food and groceries to East Texans who are at risk of going hungry.

Types of Agencies who get their food from the East Texas Food Bank include:

• Soup kitchens
• Emergency food pantries
• Homeless shelters
• Crisis centers
• Residential treatment programs
• Youth activity programs
• Disaster relief agencies

and other nonprofit agencies that provide food to clients in need.

A partner agency places an order from a weekly shopping list of available products. The partner agency then either picks up the food at the East Texas Food Bank or it is delivered to them via a rural delivery route. The agency stocks its pantry shelves with food from the East Texas Food Bank and then they directly provide the food to individuals and families.

How does being a partner agency work?

Some agencies cook meals at their site, providing hot, nutritious food for people in need. In addition to food and grocery products, the East Texas Food Bank provides training in safe food handling and sanitation for agency staff and volunteers.

Each year, partner agencies save millions of dollars by using the East Texas Food Bank. Money saved can be used to shelter, treat, train, counsel, protect, educate, rehabilitate, house, and comfort more individuals and families.
