New business holding fundrasier for ETFB
AMAX InsuranceA-Max Auto Insurance will hold its grand opening of the new Tyler office on Friday, November 30th from 12pm to 1:30pm.   The first 150 visitors will receive a "Texas Taco" from Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q for making a $1 donation to the East Texas Food Bank.  The new offices are located at 532 S. Third Annual Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast being held
CharlieBrown1The East Texas Food Bank and LT24 will present A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast on Saturday, November 17 from 2-3:30pm.  The event will be held at the East Texas Food Bank with donations of tuna accepted.  Guests will enjoy a feast of great snacks made popular by the holiday classic.  Jelly beans, pretzels, popcorn and toast will be served along with a special presentation of the movie A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.  Visit EastTexasFoodBank.org/CharlieBrown for more information.

Auto & Cycle Show to benefit East Texas Food Bank
RGCarShowChristian Brothers Automotive and RG Car Show Productions will have an Auto & Cycle Show on Saturday, October 6th from 9AM-2PM at 8730 S. Broadway in Tyler.  Pre-registration will begin at 8AM with donuts & coffee provided.  Entry fee for the show is $30, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the East Texas Food Bank.  Anyone that brings 20 or more canned items to donate will also be entered to win $100.  More Information
"Drive Away Hunger" with Altra Federal Credit Union
Altra CUAltra Federal Credit Union is sponsoring "Drive Away Hunger" at branch locations in Tyler.  For every car, truck and motorcycle loan financed between now and October 31st, Altra Federal Credit Union will donate $10 to the East Texas Food Bank.  That will provide 80 meals to needy families.  More Information
Weight Watchers in Tyler hosting "Lose For Good Open House"

Weight WatchersWeight Watchers will be hosting a Lose For Good® Open House event on Saturday September 15th at their location in  the Times Square Center in Tyler from 2:00pm-4:00pm.  Join us for this very special one-day-only offer, prizes, refreshments, recipes and more! T.G.I Friday's Bartenders Benefit

TGI FridaysT.G.I. Friday’s bartenders from the East Texas area will begin their quest for the title as the World’s Best Bartender by competing in the regional finals of the 2012 T.G.I. Friday’s World Bartender Championship in Tyler, Texas. The winner of this competition, now in its 22nd year, will move onto the divisional competition which will take place later this year.  The event will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 8:00 pm at 4300 South Broadway Avenue.
     The World Bartender Championship, which started as a one-off challenge between two bartenders, today welcomes more than 8,000 bartenders around the world in a premier competition widely acknowledged among bartenders as the toughest international bartending competition. Finalists are selected based on their knowledge of the bar, the flavor of their drinks and their ‘flairtending’ skills.  
     The Tyler Friday’s is partnering with the local East Texas Food Bank to raise money for Feeding America as part of the event, which will include a raffle and silent auction. Feeding America feeds America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks who supply food to more than 37 million people each year, including 14 million children and 3 million seniors.

2nd Annual FRESH Steak Cookoff coming up
Fresh Steakoff LogoSharpen your knives, raise your forks and get ready for a delicious steak dinner at the 2nd Annual Steak Cookoff Saturday, June 2nd at FRESH by Brookshires in Tyler.  Lots of live music, pet activites, car show and games will fill the afternoon starting at 1PM.  Steak dinners will be served from 5-8PM with proceeds benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  For each ticket purchased, you will also receive a commemorate Taste of Texas steak knife.  Celebrity judges will be judging steaks cooked by teams with the "Ace of Steaks" championship belt being awarded.
"Fighting Hunger Together" concert in Athens
Walmart in Athens will host "Fighting Hunger Together", a live concert benefitting the East Texas Food Bank, on Saturday May 26th.  Adam Fears is the featured artist and will take the stage at 4PM.  Events will start at noon in the Athens Walmart parking lot, 1405 East Tyler Street.  Here are the events scheduled:

Get ready to help "Stamp Out Hunger" on May 12
Stamp Out HungerThe National Associate of Letter Carriers will celebrate their 20th year of the annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive on Saturday, May 12th.  The largest one-day food drive in the nation, the East Texas Food Bank receives a large supply of food that is collected from our neighborhood letter carriers.  It's simple to participate.  Simply leave your non-perishable, canned items in a bag outside on or near your mailbox on Saturday, May 12th.

 
Tyler Rotary Club readying big, tasty fundraiser
Rotary ClubThe Rotary Club of Tyler is preparing for its biggest fundraiser of the year: the annual Chili Cook-Off.  The event raised over $20,000 last year, with funds donated to several nonprofits including the East Texas Food Bank. Liberty Tax Service having "Roadside Party" to benefit East Texas Food Bank
Liberty Tax ServiceLiberty Tax Service in Longview will hold a Roadside Party Friday, March 23th.  Liberty will offer free tax returns in exchange for donating 10 non-perishable items or $20 to the East Texas Food Bank.  Lots of food, games and prizes will also be offered along with a chance to win several raffle prizes.  Liberty Tax Service is located at 1714 High Street in Longview.

 
Half Moon Grill & Saloon helping to feed East Texas

The Half Moon Grill & Saloon in Tyler will be holding a food and fund drive for the East Texas Food Bank on Monday, March 19th.  Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy will be featured with no cover charged with 5 cans of food donated.  Each $5 donation will be matched with a food purchase of up to $1,000.  More information


Join Macy's and help "Bag Hunger"
Macy's Bag HungerMacy's in helping the East Texas Food Bank by participating in the "Bag Hunger" corporate campaign from March 7th-March 26th.  The Tyler Macy's Team will be accepting nonperishable food items and monetary donations to donate.  Macy's corporate will also match donations of $25 or more.  Donations can be made at Macy's at 4700 S. Broadway in Tyler.

TABA Home Products ShowBring your non-perishable food donations to benefit the East Texas Food Bank when you attend TABA’s spectacular Home Products Show Feb. 24-26 at Harvey Convention Center. Enjoy over 90 vendors, seminars, door prizes and a chance to win the Grand Prize Drawing - a beautiful bathroom vanity, courtesy of Swann’s Furniture Gallery, worth almost $1,500. BSCENE Magazine February unveiling to benefit East Texas Food Bank

Bring your non-perishable food items to donate to the East Texas Food Bank during the BSCENE Magazine February cover unveiling.  The event will happen Tuesday, January 31st at Yamato (2210 WSW Loop 323) in Tyler.  Lots of giveaways, gift cards, swag bags and each person that donates food will be entered to win a grand prize you don't want to miss.

 
Time to "fling a disc" for the East Texas Food Bank
Tyler Parks & Recreation present the 7th Annual "Ice Bowl" benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  Players will "fling a disc" Saturday, January 21 at Lindsey Park Disc Golf Course (1255 Spur 364W) in Tyler.  Registration begins at 9AM with tee time at 10AM.  Fees are $25 per player with youth 16 and under $15.  Get a registration form.

Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive with Kroger
Participate in the "Souper Bowl of Caring" at participating Kroger grocery stores in Henderson, Palestine, Longview, Nacogdoches and Marshall.  You can purchase a pre-packaged bag of non-perishable items to donate to the East Texas Food Bank from January 11th-February 5th.  Visit www.tacklehunger.org for more information about the Souper Bowl of Caring campaign.

 
Help Fill The Banks this month

East Texans are asked to step up and help Fill the Banks, both the East Texas Food Bank and Carter BloodCare, by giving blood and food.  The needs are greater than ever before.  Across the nation and in our own community, the East Texas Food Bank and Carter BloodCare needs are near record levels.  So to help those in need, we are asking for East Texans to help.  During the month of January, join Representative Leo Berman, The City of Tyler and Smith County to help Fill the Banks.

 

"Tyler's Best" wedding expo benefits East Texas Food Bank
Enjoy over 40 vendors, a fashion show, and door prizes every 30 minutes during "Tyler's Best" wedding expo Sunday January 8th.  The expo will be held at Villa De Felicita, 7891 Highway 110 N in Tyler, starting at 1:00pm.  Admission is $10 or 6 canned goods in advance or $12 at the door.  Tickets are available at Brides & Belles of Tyler, Chez Bazan, and All American Party & Tent Rentals.  Proceeds benefit the East Texas Food Bank.
