Disaster Response

The East Texas Food Bank works with our emergency partners at the American Red Cross and Salvation Army to provide food for meal preparations at shelters in the event of responding to a disaster.

We are one of four food banks that serves the Gulf Coast Region who are pre-staged with food products from Feeding America. The East Texas Food Bank is a member of Feeding America.

Hurricane Preparedness
On May 21, 2009, East Texas Food Bank volunteers, board members and staff packaged 2,600 disaster relief boxes of nutritional product donated from Abbott for Hurricane Preparedness Week, May 24-30. Learn more>

Past Disaster Response
The East Texas Food Bank has responded to Hurricanes Gustav, Ike, Katrina and Rita by distributing over 1.5 million pounds of food, which provided more than 1.2 million meals.
