Second Annual “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast”
Comes to Life at the East Texas Food Bank
(Tyler, Texas) November 14, 2011 – The East Texas Food Bank and LT24, a service organization from Leadership Tyler Class 24, will host the second annual “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast”. The event will take place at the East Texas Food Bank, 3201 Robertson Road, on Saturday, November 19th from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 pm. The public is asked to bring a jar of peanut butter to donate to the East Texas Food Bank for admission to the event.
“Last year’s event was a huge event, drawing about 150 people,” said Brian Pearson, an LT24 member. “We expect this year’s event to be bigger than ever, and the East Texas Food Bank is a worthy cause, particularly during the holiday season. Plus, we get to teach kids about the importance of helping others, giving thanks for what they have and understand that Thanksgiving is more about fellowship than it is a fancy meal.”
The feast, based on the popular holiday favorite A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, will feature a buffet of jelly beans, pretzels, popcorn, toast, ice cream and drinks – all items brought by the children for their Thanksgiving dinner in the movie. A special presentation of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will follow.
“The East Texas Food Bank is looking forward to making this an annual event,” said Dennis Cullinane, executive director of the East Texas Food Bank. “It’s a great opportunity to share this holiday classic with the kids, teach them the meaning of Thanksgiving and the importance of sharing with the less fortunate.”
Thanks to the sponsors of the event which include: Brookshire’s, Popcorn Junction, Jason’s Deli, Dairy Queen, Sweet Gourmet and The Tyler Morning Telegraph. For more information go to EastTexasFoodBank.org/CharlieBrown.
