Thanksgiving Gospel Concert to benefit East Texas Food Bank
Praise in the Night Concerts presents the Thanksgiving Gospel Concert on Saturday, November 30th at 7pm at the Tyler Metro Church in Tyler.  Admissions to the concert is free with performances by The Galileans, The Goldens and the Blackwood Quartet.  A "love offering" will be taken with 10% of the proceeds benefitting the East Texas Food Bank.  Tyler Metro Church is located at Hwy 110, 3 miles south of Loop 323.
#GivingTuesday kicks off holiday giving
GivingTuesday#GivingTuesday, a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the holiday season, will have its second annual day on Tuesday, December 3rd.  The campaign, which orginated from the New York 92nd Street YMCA and The United Nations Foundation, celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations after the traditional "Black Friday".  Over 5,000 organizations have partnered together to raise awareness for #GivingTuesday this year.  For more information about #GivingTuesday, visit givingtuesday.org.
"Grimesgiving 2013" to benefit East Texas Food Bank
Curtis GrimesCountry singer and former NBC "The Voice" contestant Curtis Grimes will be doing a benefit show on Wednesday, November 27th at Coach's and Cowboy's in Tyler.  Doors open at 7pm, with Grimes taking the stage at 9pm.  All fans who bring canned food items to the show, will be registered to win prizes ranging from Justin Boots to Curtis Grimes prize packages.  Curtis is from Gilmer and his latest record "The Cowboy Kind" is available on iTunes.  For more information about Curtis and his upcoming show schedule, visit www.curtisgrimes.com
Chili's "Give Back Event" supports East Texas Food Bank, Feeding America
ChlisChili's Grill & Bar restaurants in 10 East Texas cities will be giving back to the community all day on Thursday, November 21st.  Present/show this flyer and 15% of your purchase will go to the East Texas Food Bank.  Chili's Restaurants in Tyler, Longview, Jacksonviile, Kilgore, Mt. Pleasant, Nacogdoches, Lindale, Lufkin, Gun Barrel City and Texarkana are participating in the "Give Back Event".

ETMC Olympic Center canned food drive benefits East Texas Food Bank
ETMC LogoTo help fight hunger in East Texas this holiday season, the East Texas Medical Center Olympic Center is partnering with the East Texas Food Bank for a canned food drive during the month of November.
"Roughly 428,000 adults, children and seniors are at risk for hunger in East Texas," said Jeramie Hinojosa, director of the ETMC Olympic Center.  "Keeping East Texans healthy and fit is part of our mission, so we are excited to partner with the food bank for this important drive."
Donation barrels will be located at most ETMC Olympic Centers throughout East Texas during November.  Drop off your canned goods at ETM Colympic Centers in Tyler, Cedar Creek Lake, Chandler, Hide-A-Way Lake, Jacksoville, Lake Palestine, Pittsburg, and Rusk.
"Help us give the gift of good health this holiday season," added Hinojosa.  "also, each canned food item you donate is worth $10 off your enrollment fee to any ETMC Olympic Center, which can range in price from $50-150."

3rd Annual Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast to be held at The Market at The Crossing
CharlieBrown1The Market at the Crossing and LT24, a service organization from Leadership Tyler Class 24, will host the fourth annual “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast” benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  The event will take place at The Market at the Crossing, just past Fresh on Old Jacksonville Highway, on Friday, November 8th at 6:00 pm.  The public is asked to bring a jar of peanut butter to donate to the East Texas Food Bank. 
The feast, based on the popular holiday favorite A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, will feature goodies such as jelly beans, pretzels, popcorn, toast, ice cream and drinks – all of the items brought by the children for their Thanksgiving dinner in the movie.  A special presentation of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will follow.

Free concert benefits East Texas Food Bank
The Whitehouse United Methodist Church in Whitehouse is having a free community concert on Saturday, November 9th at 6:00pm.  The concert will feature music from G.F. Handel's Messiah.  Donations will be accepted for the East Texas Food Bank.  Whitehouse United Methodist Church is located at 405 W. Main in Whitehouse.
T.G.I. Friday's competition helping East Texas Food Bank
TGI FridaysT.G.I. Friday's in Tyler will be holding a local bartending competition on Wednesday, July 31st at the restaurant located at 4300 S. Broadway.  The all day event will feature a live DJ, auction and raffle items with proceeds benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  Some of the items include: rounds of golf at local courses, a spa package and movie passes.  The local competition is a step towards the T.G.I Friday's World Bartender Championship, where more than 10,000 bartenders worldwide participate to be crowned with the title of "World's Best Bartender."

Uncle Lucius holding benefit for East Texas Food Bank
Uncle Lucius will be playing Friday May 3rd at Stanley's BBQ in Tyler.  The band will take the stage at 9:30pm with donations taken that will go to the East Texas Food Bank.  Uncle Lucius' latest single - "Keep the Wolves Away" continues to climb the Texas Music Chart, checking in at #26.  The band recently created a video for the single, which has premiered on CMT.  Uncle Lucius is working with the Texas Food Bank Network in its mission to end hunger in Texas.

3rd Annual FRESH Steak Cookoff on May 4th benefits East Texas Food Bank

Tyler Rotary Chili Cook-Off Saturday March 2nd at Gander Mountain
Rotary ClubThe Rotary Club of Tyler is combining with Rose City Chili Pod for the 11th Annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 2nd at Gander Mountain.  It's fun for the whole family with chili tastings and other entertainment.  Admission is $5 per person and benefits several Rotary projects.  The cook off runs from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Canstruction in Tyler benefits East Texas Food Bank, students
canstructionBroadway Square Mall in Tyler will be hosting a "canstruction" event February 10th-February 23rd.  This unique design and building competition allows teams to design and construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food.  At the end of the competition, the stuctures are dismantled and the food will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank.
Freese & Nichols, Adams Engineering w/Eubanks Harris Robert Craig Architects and Johnson & Pace w/UT Tyler are competing to build the structures which will take shape on Sunday, February 8th.  On Saturday February 16th, the community will be allowed to vote for their favorites by donating $1 which will go to schloarships for students studying engineering through the Texas Engineering Foundation.  The structures will then be judged by an official panel, looking for the Best Overall, Best Meal, Structural Ingenuity, and Best Use of Labels.  Find out more about Canstruction.
"Fling A Disc" for the East Texas Food Bank
Ice BowlTyler Parks & Recreation present the 8th Annual "Ice Bowl" benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  Players will "fling a disc" Saturday, January 19 at Lindsey Park Disc Golf Course (1255 Spur 364W) in Tyler.  The registration fee is $25 for players over 18 years of age and $15 for players 17 or younger.  Registration begins at 9AM with a tee time of 10AM.  The goal of the event is to raise $2500 and 200 pounds of food.  Download a Registration Form and Flyer
